IV Nurses Day Program Held in Quincy

The New England Chapter celebrated IV Nurses Day with a dinner program on Tuesday, January 13 at the Common Market Restaurants in Quincy. The program was sponsored by Eloquest Healthcare and featured nationally recognized expert and speaker Dr. Marcia Ryder PhD,MS,RN of Ryder Science in San Mateo CA. Dr. Ryder's topic was the Prevention of Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI). She has previously served on the Technical Advisory Panel of the International Joint Commission CLABSI project and has been been honored as the 2007 "Educator of the Year" by Infection Control Today.

The meeting was attended by approximately 50 nurses and healthcare specialists who were rewarded with an outstanding presentation which generated much discussion concerning the best practices for skin preparation, site rotation and follow up care and maintenance of central line and peripheral line catheters across various healthcare venues.
